Hang it All at Ilkley Manor House

The Hellewell Estate presents an exclusive retrospective of works by artist Jack Hellewell (1920-2000.) Many of the pieces in this show were recently discovered at his studio when the building needed renovation work. “I had no idea some of the paintings were there. I avoided looking through everything until recently. It was just too sad to go through because every single work meant something to me.” said his daughter, Rae Fraser.

Hellewell was a reclusive artist who painted in Ilkley from the 1980’s until his death. His main muse during this time was Ilkley Moor, which he captured in every aspect over the years. Hellewell’s vibrant and bold style gained him note in his lifetime, exhibiting at the Royal Academy and being included in the art collections of British Rail and Provident Financial. “This exhibition is worth visiting to get a feel for how an artist progresses through styles and phases in their life. If you want to buy someone a Christmas present that has local meaning and is a good financial investment, this could be exactly what you are looking for” says Leon Martyn, Art Consultant.

The exhibition opens to the public on November 13th at The Manor House in Ilkley (open 11am – 4pm) and runs, every weekend (except 27 & 28th November) until the 13th December. jackhellewellart.com @jackhellewellart
